Jo has an extensive background in Arts Administration
and is happy to talk to you about the needs of your organization
or event.
Her arts expertise is in several areas:
Jo was Program Director for the National Folk Festival for 3 years, Singfest
for 2 years, and the Traditional Music Program for the 1995 International
Conference for Ethnomusicologists. She designed and ran weekend educational
music retreats at Tapitallee, numerous workshops for visiting and local musicians
and founded the National Folk Festival Easter School, which she directed
for 5 years.
Jo’s experience in management roles spanned human resources, administration
and operations on the National Folk Festival, the Australian Early Music Fayre,
two national Festival Organisers Conferences, and the Osibi African National
Cultural Festival. Jo was a founding committee member and treasurer of Folk
Alliance Australia and in 2001 established the Canberra Scottish Fiddle Club
with fiddler Sarah Davies. Jo worked in Functions/Theatre Management at the
Sydney Opera House.
Jo has promoted Canberra concerts for international
touring Celtic acts Martin Hayes & Dennis Cahill,
Andy Irvine, Grey Larsen and André Marchand, Tony
McManus and songwriters James Keelaghan and Kristina
Olsen.
